Zero Tolerance
CSAM is immediately removed, accounts permanently banned, and cases reported to NCMEC.
Proactive Detection
We use PhotoDNA and ML tools to proactively detect and remove CSAM before it's reported.
Protections for Minors
Special account settings and DM restrictions automatically apply to users under 18.
Our Commitment
Protecting children from exploitation and abuse is Rupsa's highest-priority safety obligation. There is no context — journalistic, artistic, educational, or otherwise — in which the sexual exploitation of a child is acceptable. We take an uncompromising stance and maintain a zero-tolerance policy.
We invest heavily in proactive detection technology, employ dedicated Trust & Safety specialists focused exclusively on child safety, and collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies and child safety organizations worldwide.
Our commitment extends beyond our platform. We actively share learnings with industry peers, support survivor organizations, and advocate for stronger laws protecting children online.
CSAM & Zero Tolerance
Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor — is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Photographic or video content depicting sexual acts involving minors
- Digitally created, AI-generated, or animated content that depicts minors in sexual situations
- Content that sexualizes real minors, even if their bodies are not shown
- Links or directions to CSAM hosted elsewhere
- Solicitation or sharing of CSAM under any guise
When CSAM is identified, we immediately: (1) remove the content; (2) permanently suspend the account; (3) report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via CyberTipline; and (4) preserve evidence and cooperate with law enforcement investigations.
Grooming & Exploitation
Beyond CSAM, we prohibit behaviors that endanger children or facilitate their exploitation:
Grooming behavior
- Adults attempting to move minors to private communication channels for sexual purposes
- Sharing sexually explicit material with minors
- Soliciting sexual images or contact from minors
- Requesting minors' location or attempting to meet them offline for sexual purposes
Sexual exploitation
- Trafficking minors or facilitating their sexual exploitation
- Advertising sexual services involving minors
- Operating or promoting platforms used to exploit children
Harmful content
- Sexualizing depictions of minors in art, fiction, or other creative works
- Content that normalizes or glorifies the sexual abuse of children
- Sharing real children's personal information that could facilitate harm
Age Verification
Users must be at least 16 years old to create a Rupsa account. We use several measures to enforce this:
- Age gate at account creation with date of birth verification
- Machine learning models trained to detect likely-underage users
- Behavioral signals that may indicate a user is below the minimum age
- Reports from other users about potentially underage accounts
When we determine an account belongs to a user under 16, we suspend the account and delete any data collected. Parents who believe their child has a Rupsa account can contact us at minors@rupsa.app.
Minor Account Protections
Users who identify as or are identified as minors (ages 16–17) receive automatic, non-removable safety protections:
Private DMs
Direct messages from non-followers are disabled by default. Minors cannot opt out.
No adult content
Access to sensitive or adult content is blocked, regardless of account settings.
No ad targeting
Behavioral advertising is disabled. Minors see only contextual ads.
Location privacy
Precise location sharing is disabled for minor accounts.
Discoverability
Minor accounts are not suggested to adults with whom the minor has no existing connection.
Safety resources
Minors who search for certain sensitive topics are directed to safety resources.
Reporting CSAM
If you encounter CSAM or child exploitation on Rupsa, report it immediately:
In-app report
Tap the three dots (•••) on the post → Report → It's harmful or abusive → Child sexual exploitation.
Direct email
Send details to safety@rupsa.app. Include post URLs if possible.
NCMEC CyberTipline
Report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at cybertipline.org or 1-800-THE-LOST.
Law enforcement
Contact your local police or FBI (in the US) if you believe a child is in immediate danger.
Law Enforcement
Rupsa cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies in investigations involving child exploitation. We respond to lawful legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants. In emergency situations involving imminent risk to a child, we can provide information to law enforcement without legal process.
Law enforcement agencies may submit emergency requests at legalrequests@rupsa.app. We have a dedicated team that processes emergency child safety requests around the clock, 365 days a year.
In addition to responding to law enforcement requests, we proactively report all CSAM we identify to NCMEC, which then refers cases to law enforcement agencies worldwide.
