When you use Rupsa, you trust us with your information. We take that responsibility seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how Rupsa and our subsidiaries collect, use, and share information about you when you use our services, including our website, mobile applications, and any other Rupsa-branded products.

By using Rupsa, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described here.

We collect information in three main ways:

Information you provide

• Account information: name, username, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account
• Profile information: bio, location, website, and profile photo
• Content you post: posts, replies, photos, videos, polls, and other material you share
• Payment information: credit card details when you purchase Rupsa Premium or other paid services (processed via secure third-party processors)
• Communications with us: support requests, bug reports, and feedback

Information we collect automatically

• Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and device identifiers
• Usage data: pages visited, links clicked, search queries, and interactions with content
• Location data: precise location with permission, or approximate location inferred from IP address
• Device information: hardware model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Cookies section)

Information from third parties

• Third-party services you connect to Rupsa (e.g., signing in with Google or Apple)
• Advertisers and analytics partners who share data about interactions with their content
• Other users who mention you in posts or share content with you
• Publicly available sources such as news articles and public databases

We use the information we collect to provide, improve, and protect Rupsa:

• Operate and maintain Rupsa services, including authenticating your account and processing transactions
• Personalize your experience, including showing relevant content, people to follow, and advertisements
• Communicate with you about your account, security alerts, and product updates
• Detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and other harmful activity
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities

Service providers

Companies that help us run Rupsa — such as cloud hosting, payment processing, and customer support — under strict data processing agreements that prohibit them from using your data for other purposes.

Legal requirements

When required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rupsa, our users, or others. We publish a Transparency Report detailing government data requests.

Business transfers

If Rupsa is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Aggregated & anonymized data

We may share aggregate, de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you with partners and the public.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account:

• Your public posts and profile are removed from the platform within 30 days
• Your account data is deleted from our production systems within 30 days
• Backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days before deletion
• Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for safety purposes
• Anonymized data derived from your usage may be retained indefinitely

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data (right to erasure)
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
• Objection: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We use cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies to recognize you, remember your preferences, and understand how you use Rupsa. We use:

• Essential cookies: Required for Rupsa to function, including authentication and security
• Preference cookies: Remember your settings such as language and notification preferences
• Analytics cookies: Help us understand how Rupsa is being used and improve our services
• Advertising cookies: Used to deliver relevant ads and measure their effectiveness

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings or Rupsa privacy settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.

We also receive information from our advertising partners' cookies when you visit other websites. You can opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance.

Rupsa is a global platform operated by Rupsa, headquartered in Berlin, Germany. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.

For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to safeguard your data. You may request a copy of these clauses by contacting us.

Rupsa is not directed at children under the age of 16 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below this age. If we become aware that a user is under the minimum age, we will terminate their account and delete their data promptly.
